Greetings Earthlings,
I write this by lamplight. Outside the street slumbers in stillness. The enormous blow-up turkeys on the neighbors’ front lawn twinkle with lights. Soon it will be Thanksgiving. I give thanks for you, dear reader.
We are now in the season of festivity, just when our bodies yearn to nest. Yet, we pull ourselves out of our natural seasonal lethargy, like bear hauled from her den, to participate in the madness of shopping. Still, there is something beautiful about the sparkle and song of Christmas. There is a sacredness to the ancient story of baby Jesus, and deeper and older still, the magic of solstice. This time belongs to Sagittarius, the archer, whose bent bow shoots a beam of wisdom across the heavens pointing us toward a future whose path is peace. Look to your own vision this time of year. Look to the connecting points of light in your life – your loved ones, human and animal, your community and your inner truth. The optimistic energy of Sagittarius carries to winter solstice on December 21st, at which time, the Sun pauses at its furthest point making the longest night of the year and then enters the sturdy resilience of Capricorn.
We are all preparing for massive zeitgeist shifts in 2025 when Neptune and Saturn enter Aries together. As above, so below the saying goes, and it is true.
Here’s how the month rolls along:
Until December 15th, Mercury is retrograde. This encourages reflection and correction. Use the first two weeks of this month to contemplate the year we’re leaving. Is there an important project or relationship that needs tying up? Time is precious, friends, let Mercury’s retrograde help you use it wisely.
On December 1st we begin with a New Moon in Sagittarius, freshly hatched the night before. This sensitive, healing lunation is imbued with celestial light encouraging us all to heed our inner truths and commit to them. As you wake, this December day, remind yourself of the reason for your existence and then act from there.
The Sagittarian Moon carries us to December 2nd, when it shifts to Capricorn reminding us of the seriousness of these times. Venus and Uranus form a favorable connection helping you align your values with changing technology and efficiency. Relationships have the potential to both deepen and shift under this transit. Financial markets look interesting.
The practical Capricorn Moon carries us over the next few days. Get organized.
On December 4th, progress is possible, and wisdom downloads are likely as the Moon meets Venus and retrograde Mercury opposes Jupiter. Be mindful of your speech, in all its forms. Keep things simple and avoid making mountains out of molehills.
December 5th, and the people learn of secrets and what is hidden comes to light when the Moon, now in Aquarius, meets Pluto. Messages fly as Mercury conjuncts the Sun and the Sun squares Saturn. Tensions are possible and so is peace. Face your own truth and commit to it.
Late on December 6th, is a big day cosmically speaking. Mars retrogrades until late February 2025, bringing lingering issues to the forefront. Notice where you may need to go back and either finish or correct things. Also today, gracious Venus leaves the protocol of Capricorn for humanitarian causes and the sign of Aquarius. She immediately connects with Pluto, now firmly ensconced in the same sign. This is the signature of the French Revolution where the French aristocracy had their heads cut off by the starving masses. This is a stark reminder that the new world is here. No longer does the old regime of kings and dictators, power in the hands of the few, please the populace. Notice what’s going on. Financial markets may shift today. Also today, Mercury squares Saturn – your word is your bond.
The day dawns on December 7th as Venus and Pluto continue to connect under a gentle Pisces Moon. There’s a restless, maybe antsy feeling as the Sun opposes Jupiter. Big proclamations are likely. Dreamy Neptune turns direct today — center yourself in practices of peace. Listen for your own heartbeat.
December 8th brings a necessary tension as the Moon conjuncts Saturn and squares the Sun and Jupiter. Rest if needed.
The waxing Aries Moon carries us through the 9th and 10th, meeting with sensitive Chiron on the 10th. Take care of your personal needs. Healing of identity is possible as the Sun and Chiron tenderly connect.
The waxing Taurus Moon carries us through the 11th and 12th bringing a steady stubborn focus, probably much needed to assist entrenched positions, as Venus opposes Mars and Mercury connects with both. Negotiations are likely. Hold to your truth but do consider all alternatives.
Remember your dreams as you rise on the 13th. The Moon met with Uranus while you slept and brought you messages from afar.
The Gemini Moon speeds things up on the 13th, and especially the 14th when it meets abundant Jupiter and squares Saturn. Siblings reach out to one another. Protect your nervous system. Read something worthy.
December 15th is a full and dynamic day. Early in the morning the Moon comes to fullness in the sign of Gemini just as Mercury (Gemini’s ruler) turns direct. This is also 90 days after the last eclipse on September 17th, which is a triggering point of the events associated with that time. Peace talks both in the larger world and in your family, come to a head. Is it better to be right, or happy? It’s another good opportunity to protect your nervous system. It’s also a good time to implement personal actions as Mercury trines retrograde Mars. You recently learned something important… keep going!
Monday December 16th, the energy moves smoothly with Mercury’s direct action, and in a nice relationship with Mars. Discussions go well though plans for the future may have to wait until Mars is direct (late February 2025). Emotions are full with the Moon’s passage in Cancer.
The Cancer Moon carries us through the 17th until it enters Leo and meets Mars that afternoon. Let your beautiful body move!
On December 18th and 19th, let yourself enter stillness to receive wisdom from beyond as the Sagittarian Sun resonates with the Galactic Center.
Mark your calendars for the 19th. At this time, the Leo Moon encourages creativity and kisses the Sun while Venus kisses Jupiter! Wow! Friendliness abounds. Open your heart and let love in.
The Virgo Moon carries us through the 20th, and the last days of Sagittarius and helps you get organized.
It’s the winter solstice (here in the northern hemisphere) on December 21st, the longest night of the year, and the Sun’s entry into Capricorn. This magical time is special to many, including me. This mystical cosmic time was co-opted from pagan celebrations by religion. Can you find a way to re-establish yourself with the rhythm and cycle of the season? This is a dear and precious renewal that marks the planting of your seeds for 2025.
Capricorn in your chart calls to you now to get to work, to create the structure you need for your life, over time. Remember, Capricorn relates to long-term projects, things you can use now and in the future. Take your time and plan wisely. Give your bones a workout by lifting weights (or the snow shovel!). Take care of your skin. Have any old folks in your life? Take care of them too. Capricorn is dutiful. Stay committed to the goal.
Also on Solstice, the Sun forms a nice angle with Pluto. It’s possible that you can undergo a transformation of sorts. What would you like that to be?
The last quarter Libra Moon carries us through to Christmas Eve on the 24th and a feeling of tenderness when the Moon opposes Chiron. Also today, Jupiter and Saturn square once again providing an environment of both expansion – yes you can; and contraction – keep it small. What is the balance point for you?
Christmas Day is a Scorpio Moon day. This deepens your spiritual practice. This may be a time of both loss and renewal, especially when the Moon and Mars square early in the day. This energy remains through the 26th. Where, how and to whom can you dedicate your attention?
The Moon enters joyful Sadge on the 27th and lifts spirits. Unexpected financial shifts and/or love matters when Venus and Uranus square. Hold life and love lightly.
Information comes through on the 28th when the Moon and Mercury meet. The Moon is waning, how appropriate for the end of the year.
On the 29th, the Moon resonates with the Galactic Center, tune in to whispers from spirit. This is important because the wounded healer Chiron turns direct today and carries your light body forward.
December 30th and we celebrate a Capricorn New Moon. Structure and commitment is recommended especially since Mars opposes Pluto over the next few days, ending the year on a note of determination. Avoid power struggles by focusing on what is best for you. Saturn is the ruler of this New Moon, it governs this beginning from the gentle, ephemeral space of Pisces. What kind of seeds can you plant for the New Year and for your spirit? Where and what is your strength?
The year ends on a waxing Capricorn Moon which is also a trigger point for the October 2nd eclipse. What was happening for you then and how has it evolved?
As things wrap up it becomes clear that 2024 was prep for the incredible shifts coming in 2025. Take a moment to reflect on the improvements you’ve made in your world and celebrate the simpler, more loving version of you. The wiser kinder you is needed now.
And remember, you matter, we’re all connected, Earth is our home, and love is our destination. Sat nam, friends.
Thanks for reading and Happy New Year!

Dulce
