Dear Ones,

Where has the year gone? How can it be August already? I’m just grateful that the madness of July and the Mars/Uranus/Algol conjunction is behind us. It really reflected the American and world stages which were ablaze with the drama of failed debate, attempted assassination, and bizarre legal proclamations.

Drama and chaos keep spinning in confusing as Mercury retrogrades this month from August 4th to August 27th. There is no clarity! And yet, it is a fabulous opportunity for reflection and pause. This occurs under the warm and expressive sign of Leo until August 22nd which likes to be recognized.

Leo has been associated with ego and with holding on in a stubborn pattern long passed the due date. All fixed signs – Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius have this problem. It’s great when you need to push through but when you need to let go – these fixed types don’t. Biden is a Scorpio and he (at the time of this writing in mid-July 2024) is holding on and believing it’s a good thing. On August 1st, reviewing this blog, Biden has let go. Way to go!

Ask yourself where you are holding on and consider that it’s your ego; your pattern of belief that keeps you stuck. Let beliefs go. Free yourself from mental slavery. Use this annual Leo period to create new things for yourself. Remember too, that this is the time for the open heart and the energy of lion. This month the Lion’s gate opens and we ourselves, get to open our hearts in courage, and in creativity and love.

The energy slowly settles toward the end of the month with the Sun’s entry into Virgo on the morning of August 22nd. Now through the end of the month, energy settles into a peaceful routine of order and routine. Sweep your floor. Weed your garden. Mindful living breathes spaciousness into the world. Try it.

Here’s how the month rolls along:

The first two and a half days of August hold emotional charge with the waning Cancer Moon.

The 3rd is a great day to set your intentions for the Leo New Moon on August 4th.

August 4th Leo New Moon and Mercury stations. Mercury is still in the sky preparing to turn retrograde in Virgo. Be thoughtful and reflective in your communications. Also, at this new Moon, Venus stands poised at the last degrees of Leo, ready to enter Virgo, the sign of housekeeping and animal husbandry. Venus is rising from her metaphorical journey to the underworld as she moves to her evening star phase. Her position at this Moon birth reminds you of your inner fire — the divine within. That’s a wonderful thing to reflect on.

Shortly after the New Moon, Mercury and Venus together, change the energy. Mercury turns retrograde and Venus enters Virgo. Soon Mercury will be with Venus for some lovely pillow talk.

4th through the 7th the Moon, retrograde Mercury and Venus snuggle together over the next few days at the early degrees of Virgo. It’s the perfect time to reflect and reorganize.

August 7th and Mercury and Venus conjunct. Let love be your language.

August 8th and the Lion’s Gate illuminates our inner lives. The Sun aligns with the spiritual Sun of Sirius on this numerologically auspicious 8/8 date. Some say that this is the most beneficial day of the year for manifestation. What would you like to see come true?

The waxing Libra Moon carries us through the next few days. Seek balance and companionship.

Meanwhile, Mars is steadily approaching a connection with abundant Jupiter. Be mindful in your actions. As my late husband used to say, the greatest expense in life is failure to pay attention. Don’t incur unnecessary debt because of carelessness!

August 10 through the 12th, the Scorpio Moon deepens feelings. Put down your emotional anchor and let the fish swim around as you listen to your inner voice. You may need to put your shields up and ignore the flying rhetoric so you can go deep, if you want.

August 13th and 14th Mars meets Jupiter. Jupiter is wise and benevolent; Mars is fast and active. Whew! Stay grounded. Write, write, write. You may well receive pearly messages despite the many discussions and ideas that are flying around.

August 15th and instant karma as Mars squares Saturn. Did you go too far? Mercury re-enters Leo on its retrograde journey today too. It’s time to revisit the last week of July and figure out what was said or promised, while the sensible Capricorn Moon guides us to practical matters.

The Aquarian Moon meets Pluto on the 17th and spills secrets. How much is your freedom worth to you? Feel both your personal power, and the power of the collective.

Heavy energy lingers as Saturn and Jupiter continue to square each other. Work quietly toward your goals.

On the 18th Venus opposes Saturn bringing hard truths, or long-term commitments, to your attention. We’re just hours from a Full Moon and natural tension builds.

August 19th and Mercury is exactly conjunct the Sun. This is known as cazimi and may help you get to the heart of what matters to you.

Later on the 19th, the Aquarian Full Moon lights up the social and political scene. With an exact square to Uranus this Full Moon gives me pause. We’re seeing more and more climate change related incidences and Uranus in Taurus is closely associated with sudden natural catastrophic events. Prayers for peace and safety for all. On a happier note, this is a good Moon for collective action. Try something new with people you trust.

The Pisces Moon carries us spiritually over the next few days. You are loved. There is support. Help someone out. Open your heart.

On the 22nd the energy shifts significantly when the Sun leaves the bravado of Leo for the sensibility of Virgo. It’s time to switch gears. The Aries Moon keeps your spirits strong.

Late on 23rd and through to the 25th, the Taurus Moon centers you in what’s real. Stay alert on the 25th when the Moon meets Uranus. Sudden surprises are possible. Happy alignments with Venus suggest interesting love and financial turns.

On the 26th and 27th the Moon in chatty Gemini gets all caught up in distraction. Stay focused. Also, on the 27th, Mercury turns direct and helps you catch up to the facts.

The Moon now in Cancer, watches as Venus leaves Virgo for Libra, one of the signs she rules. Though more gracious in Libra, her first connection is with dreamy Neptune. What is real love?

The month ends on a warm Leo Moon. Mars prepares to enter Cancer early in September and the energy changes once again. If there’s one thing this summer has taught us, it’s to remain centered in our own truth, and especially to think for ourselves. It’s taught us to stay in the breath, and in the heart. We’ve learned that simple is best and we embrace that. In this way, we are free from the drama of narcissism which gobbles up attention on the planet. Remove yourself from that show and enjoy the creative impulse that moves in you.

And remember, you matter, we’re all connected, Earth is our home and love is our destination.
