Greetings earthlings!
Ah, May… such a beautiful month. The enormous crabapple in my front yard is blooming in pink flowers which the spring winds blow to my backdoor so when I go outside, I walk on a flowering carpet. How can life be this sweet? I can only thank the great Divine for such beauty.
We’re in a rare spot cosmically speaking. We’re out of the birth canal of the eclipse and the craziness of the Scorpio Full Moon (don’t tell me you didn’t feel anything) and some of us are simply reeling. It’s big energy, friends. Use the earthiness of the prevailing Taurus energy to deeply ground. Identify your values and priorities and rest in them. Find refuge and stillness in the simplicity of your life. The dove on her nest in the honey locust is the perfect teacher. Regardless of today’s constant rain, she sits and nurtures her precious gem.
A friend said something important to me when we were on our eclipse trip. We were talking about the commitments we have, and I was concerned that I couldn’t fulfill one of mine, for even though it doesn’t take much time, it’s consistent. This wise friend said, you’re a little piece in the life of those folks but you’re a 100% to you. I got it… I got that I need to take care of myself. That’s what came out of the Aries eclipse message for me. The ongoing Chiron Aries infusion has informed me deeply. I experienced a soul retrieval between the eclipse and the Scorpio Full Moon. I bet something like that happened for you too.
You know, trauma really is the backbone of our experience here on earth; but we have to stop calling it trauma and see it as a path on this particular plane of existence. While here on Earth, and especially with Jupiter and Uranus in Taurus, we cannot be separated from our planet – we are our planet. Earth has a cycle of death and rebirth. Just look at nature. We’re in the phase of active rooting and flowering. The combination of Taurus holding the seed and Gemini shoots of new life characterize this time of year. If we can recognize ourselves as earth-beings who are experiencing Post Traumatic Growth – an actual psychological term – we can connect with the mystery and sanctuary that is our home.
This ability to rewrite and integrate our thoughts is life-enhancing. There are plenty of opportunities this month for moving out of trauma and into growth when the energy switches to Gemini, in a big way! The largest planet in our solar system enters the sign of the twins for the first time in 12 years on May 25th. And I’ve saved it for the very end of this blog, the mystical magical move of Inuit goddess Sedna into Gemini where she’ll share the song of whales and other sea creatures with us, praise be.

Here’s how May rolls along:
May 1st and Mars is fresh in Aries, back after two years away. Mars plays a big role this month, connecting with other planets as he both energizes things and issues a word of caution. Use the next six weeks to connect with your inner drives and goals. Notice how conscious you are during this period. Mars corresponds to instinctual, often reactionary actions and sometimes our willfulness gets in the way of our soul journey.
May 2nd and Mars pulls away from the Neptune influence. You may feel more physically energetic. The Aquarian Moon keeps things social. Also today, Pluto retrogrades in Aquarius. Pluto will backtrack into the last degrees of Capricorn reminding us of the power and might of governments, rules and order.
May 3rd and 4th are soulful days as the Piscean Moon connects with Saturn and Neptune. This a creative, gentle energy.
On the 5th and 6th, the waning Moon enters Aries and boosts energy and focus. Try not to take things personally.
On the 6th and 7th, Mercury now direct in Aries connects with wounded healer Chiron. Ouch! Even though this is a tender time, it’s great for self-understanding and it furthers the awareness you received at the eclipse.
The 18° Taurus New Moon on May 7th provides a deep container for growth. This annual lunation features Venus, Jupiter, and Uranus in Taurus as well at the same time Mercury and Chiron meet in Aries.
At the same time as the New Moon, Mercury and Chiron meet in Aries. This cosmic combination suggests that our notion of what we treasure becomes even more precious. This is no time to be careless with our bodies or the planet. Plant your intention in the rich soil of your heart and take time to be still.
The new Moon energy ripples across the next few days. Remain peaceful, especially early on the 8th when the Moon connects with both Jupiter and Uranus.
The pace quickens over the 9th and 10th when the waxing Moon travels through mercurial Gemini. The Sun is approaching its annual conjunction with Uranus. Protect your nervous system.
Don’t be testy on the 11th when the Cancer Moon squares Mars but do use the action to unearth buried emotions.
We’re entering some fast-moving earth now. Makes me think of a landslide. Hang onto your hat from now through to the 18th. The Sun connects with Uranus (exact on the 13th) and Jupiter, exact on the 18th. Also on the 18th, Venus connects with Uranus. Wow! What a day! And then the very next day, the Sun enters speedy Gemini. Whew!
Drama, value changes, market shifts, earth expressions, are all possible during this vital week. The Moon travels from Cancer, through Leo and into Virgo during this period. It lands in balanced Libra as the Sun connects with wise Jupiter on the 18th. Where and how can you find your balance during this exciting but possibly volatile time?
Shifts in planning are likely to occur when Mercury enters Taurus on the 15th, bringing a measure of stability to an otherwise interesting time!
My eyes keep returning to May 18th as I move the planets on my screen. It’s eye-popping! Venus and Uranus together at 23° Taurus and the Sun and Jupiter at 28° Taurus suggest a major turn of events guided by wise action. You may fall in or out of love. Your stocks may plummet or expand. Goodness knows, my friends. Stay tuned to wisdom and put down your taproot – and remember, that root represents your values.
The Moon opposes Mars on the 19th giving you the impetus to get something done.
The Sun enters communicative Gemini early on the 20th and scatters our seeds and intentions looking for fertile landing spots.
The waxing Scorpio Moon helps you tap into some deep, possibly repressed emotions over the next few days. It opposes both Venus and Jupiter on the 22nd. Stay present. Ask yourself, what is happening now?
On May 23rd the Sun, new in Gemini, opposes the Moon newly in Sagittarius at the Full Moon. This occurs at the very same moment Venus meets Jupiter. Are we being blessed, yet again? It makes me want to sing. It’s possible that old, entrenched values shift and we’re able to see the truth of things. Truth is Sagittarius’s bailiwick after all, and Gemini is adept at putting pieces together. As my late husband used to say, the greatest expense in life is failure to pay attention. Do so now.
Shortly after the Full Moon and on the 23rd, Venus leaves her favorite sign of Taurus for her ancient dwelling place – the air of Gemini. It’s in Gemini that Venus feels whole. Beauty, beauty everywhere. May I walk in beauty, say the Dine, the Navajo people. Venus chases the Sun in their meanderings across the sky. Venus is preparing to conjunct the Sun on June 4th and in July will become an evening star.
The energy lingers in the sweet spot of ideas and connections over the next few days.
Then, drum roll please, Jupiter enters Gemini the evening (MDT) on May 25th for the first time in twelve years. What were you doing twelve years ago? I was traveling over four Colorado mountain passes once a month to attend hypnotherapy school, through snow and sleet in the winter and behind holiday traffic in the summer. Hypnosis has been a valuable tool in my work, and I continue to marvel at the use and power of active imagination to change one’s thoughts and patterns for the best.
Jupiter in an air sign (Gemini) values logic and analysis. Think of Sherlock Holmes, whose creator Sir Arthur Conan Doyle had Jupiter in Gemini in the first house. Put your thinking and ideas to the test while Jupiter is in this mental sign. Jupiter will stay in Gemini until early 2025.
Jupiter comes into a flow state with Pluto now retrograde in Aquarius. This is a whispered promise to use science and sensibility for the good of the people.
The Capricorn Moon keeps us practical during Jupiter’s transition. Keep working is the message.
On May 27th, attention turns to the people and civic action when the Moon enters social Aquarius, conjuncts Pluto and trines Jupiter. Write those ideas down!
The Moon connects people and ideas over the next few days.
May 29th is a tender day. Mars meets skillful Chiron, both of them in the fire sign of Aries. The energy of fire, or spirit informs us so that we are utterly transformed. Chiron sensitizes our will, our identity, our reactionary impulses. What will this connection mean for us? Perhaps we will align our wills with peace. Amen.
The Pisces Moon carries us through to the end of the month. Karma comes a calling as the Moon connects to Saturn at May’s end.
I want to end this month’s blog with a surprise. One that’s been a long time coming. In fact, it’s never happened while you and I have been alive – it’s Sedna’s ingress into Gemini. The story of Sedna is Inuit; a deep-sea myth full of meaning and yearning. It goes like this:
In a far Alaskan village, the chieftain’s daughter fell in love with a visiting stranger. His glossy black hair fell over his brow and his eyes flashed fire. Only the shaman saw that the young man was a raven. He warned the young woman and the chief, but the young woman would not listen. She was passionately in love. She and the stranger were married, and he took her up to the far cold north with him. On the rocky shore with the sea crashing, her new husband placed her on a jagged rock. In front of her eyes, he turned into a raven and with a caw, flew away.
Crying out for her father, the frightened girl found her way down toward the sea. “Father” she called over the waves, and there he was, in his longboat rowing his way toward her. She climbed abroad and they set the oars for home. Out of nowhere swooped down the raven, cawing and shrieking, he bombarded the boat. To save his own life, Sedna’s dad threw her into the sea. As she clutched the sides of the boat, he took an axe and with a sharp thwack, he cut her fingers and thumbs off; and she drifted to the depths of the deepest sea.
Down, down, down she went; to the very bottom where she lay, her digits and hair floating about her in the cold salt sea. Her fingers and thumbs turned into whales, dolphins and all manner of sea creatures. To this day shamans can drum for her, and Sedna will answer with the song of the sea and her creatures. Long waves of sound. Vibrations and frequencies rippling their magical song toward our inner ear, stirring our ancient memory.

This is a beautiful depiction of Sedna, for they say that when the shamans drum for Sedna, she lets them brush her hair. I wish I knew who drew this beautiful piece.
Sedna’s story is one of radical transformation. We can change our thinking to perceive unfolding events in different ways if we are to not only survive but thrive. Friends, this is so magical and mystical I really don’t know what to say, only, thank you.
Thanks for reading, and remember, you matter, we are all connected; Earth is our home and love is our destination.
Your astrologer,
Dulce
